SUCCESS STORIES

Meet Lily

Ms. Lily had recently lost her husband and was living in a cluttered home by herself. The house was not only cluttered, but it was also not clean after her husband had health issues that resulted in an unsanitary bathroom. Ms. Lily felt ashamed about the mess and her family was fearful Ms. Lily would fall due to the clutter.

Through our Home Repair Concierge (HRC) service, we were able to help declutter Ms. Lily’s home and bring in companies to clean the bathrooms in order to make them usable again. Through the decluttering and cleaning process, we also provided companionship for Ms. Lily when we would visit for HRC. Ms. Lily was depressed and lonely after losing her husband and this gave her an opportunity to socialize and visit with somebody that was trusted by her and her family. This part of the job was likely more important than the decluttering itself.

Unfortunately, Ms. Lily was diagnosed with cancer and passed away a few months later. She had two out of town children that were overwhelmed with handling her estate. Our real estate team worked with her children along with the estate’s executor to make sure the handling of their personal items and the home was as stress-free as possible. We brought in companies to handle the estate sale and clean the house prior to putting the home on the market. This was stress-free for both the children and the executor as they didn’t have to travel. The family did not have to worry about their mom’s estate and could focus on mourning her passing. In result, we got top dollar for the home and their family’s belongings were handled with love and care.

Meet Margaret

Margaret was the former Conservatorship Director for Jefferson County, AL. While working for the Jefferson County Conservator's office, I had several clients/wards of the state who needed so much help - placement, medication management - you name it and we needed it. My first interaction with LCS was the Spring/Summer of 2015. We would hire Christy with LCS for any of our clients who had the financial resources to pay for LCS services and, most importantly, when we were appointed as guardians in any particular care since this was a particularly stressful situation. Having LCS care managers in place helped ensure that our office was doing our part to protect the individual. There were times when I needed someone to go to the ER at 3:00 am for a client and I could not, and LCS jumped in every time. Coming from an office where we had 350-400 clients at one time, it was such a relief for me and the County Conservator to have LCS involved in our cases. LCS is a Godsend. We had one client who needed to be placed in a dual-diagnosis rehabilitation facility, and having Christy and LCS there to help walk us through those steps was such a comfort to me. Not only was the person successfully placed, but they have made a dramatic comeback with their rehabilitation process.

Meet Sam

Sam needed help moving into Assisted Living after the passing of his wife. Due to recent physical and mental health issues, moving on his own has become too stressful, overwhelming, and complicated to handle. Due to his health concerns, Sam gets lost in the details and struggles when he is trying to execute tasks. So, Sam uses LifeCare Solutions’ Personal Assistant Service to help coordinate movers, execute what needs to be accomplished, encourage him through this stressful time, oversee his valuable memorabilia and help him through this challenging and emotional transition. Sam felt relieved that he was not alone, as well as grateful to have the stress lifted off of his shoulders.

Meet Ron

We first met Ron when he was a resident in a skilled nursing facility after falling in his home. He had poor nutrition, mobility issues and was unable to maintain his household, but had no family in town to assist him. He had also begun the process of getting dental implants prior to Covid, and this process had been abandoned. His family was concerned about his well-being and overwhelmed by the amount of work required to get him back on track. When they called us, we set up 24-hour sitters and we began the process of contacting the dentist and periodontist to complete his dental work. He has since undergone 2 oral surgeries, has been discharged from the endodontist and we are about to complete the final step of having his implants replaced. We have addressed his nutrition issues by setting up individual packaged meals that are delivered to him weekly. LCS has also educated him on the detriments of consuming too much Ensure versus consuming real, whole foods. His Care Manager also manages his medical appointments and he is now up to date with his primary care physician, cardiologist and podiatrist. Ron is now healthy enough to focus on his passion project, a “coffee table” book of his art, and his family now has peace of mind that he is safe while remaining in his home, which is his goal.
